I searched the forum and couldn't find what I was looking for so I figured I'd start a new post.
Boat:
2001 SAN GT-40 approx 700 hrs
I purchased the boat last September and at the end of the year decided to change the impeller. I read that it is best to leave the impeller out over the winter so the blades wouldn't deteriorate as fast, so I did. The only problem is that I took the old one out and did not put the new one in until this past weekend. Since then I have forgotten how the housing goes back on. I put the housing and everything back on without the impeller in it, but I guess I wasn't paying attention.
So I put the new impeller in and fire it up, I notice not much water is coming out and the little that is is extremely hot. I assume it is me being paranoid and watch the temp gauge, sure enough it starts to rise a little higher than I would like. I cut the boat off, left the water running to cool the engine and what was coming out was rusty looking. I left the water running and it eventually cleared up.
So I figured the hose wasn't supplying enough water and was really ready to go to the lake, so we put the boat in and it starts to overheat again. The hose below the impeller was extremely hot so I assumed the water was flowing backwards through the engine. I pulled the boat out and few minutes later a huge gush of water came pouring out. This left me to believe the impeller was pushing water through the intake instead of sucking, which cause the exhaust flapper to stick to the boat, overheat, and once I pulled the boat out the suction released and the water came out. Sorry for the long post, I am basically hoping someone can post a pic of the impeller installed.
Thanks
