Where do I find a 160 degree? Went to orally and they only carry 195.

I have seen them at NAPA, and Auto Zone. I think pretty much any of the auto parts stores could order one for you.

Ha Ha! Jeff can we have a default reply to any thread that asks "where can I find this part" that says White Lake Marine? While this may be true. Some people may want to run and pick up a part today. Not trying to be a smart a, just think is funny.

I'm no expert, but I'm thinking....

          Stant 13006 (economy)
          Stant 45356 (premium)
          Gates 33006

I love White Lake. David won't mind if you stop by your local auto dealer and pick up a 4 dollar stat.

            Johnboy,

I recommend using a PCM thermostat that can be picked up at any nautique dealer for a reasonable price. I am a stickler for using OEM on a 30+ thousand dollar boat. It's just silly to me to squabble over saving 5 - 10 dollars that can cost you so much more if it sticks and you over heat. My two cents...

Napa around here has a great Marine inventory. Usually get same day from the disty warehouse. They even carry a decent amount of PCM if I remember correctly.

So the thermostat in your $50K+ tow rig isn't as (or more) reliable than the same one with a PCM stamp on it?

The bigger question is, Why do you want a 160 degree stat in the first place? It is not OEM.

                  ?? Come again ?

                  160* for raw water cooled,
                  170* for closed cooling

                  143* for older carbed boats

To answer the question, no, I use Cummins OEM t-stats too. Maybe I am weird, but the tolerances in OEM and aftermarket are not the same so I choose OEM always. Would you use bailing wire to hook up a stereo? It will work I am sure of it.

                      This thread has gone crazy.

The stant cap is just fine...especially for fresh water or closed cooling. Note the last AC Delco stat and cap I bought were made in India. Go GM !

For an open salt water system, (YIKES!) I'd try to find an all brass unit but wouldn't lose sleep over using a stainless steel model and changing it every few years.
