Gas type to use

Hi All,

I own a 2002 210 SANTE and I was wondering what gas i should be putting in my boat. I am getting ready for the season and Gas prices around here are super $$$. does it make a difference if I use regular or super? What octane level is recommended for my CC.

I have a 2008 210 the book says regular and thats all I have put in it since new . It has 200 hours no problems so far.

We need to know what engine is in your boat.

The gas information should be printed on a decal somewhere on the engine. The gas information is also in the owners manual for your boat. You really should read it. If you do not have an owners manual, contact Correct Craft, or I think you can down load one from the downloads section of this site.

correctcraftfan.com also has manuals you can download. You shouldn't need to run premium, but that's the only gas we can buy in WI without ethanol (which will I will not use).

05' Excalubur says 87 octane right on the motor so that is what I have predominately run in mine for 400+ hrs without issue.

I have a 2002 GT40 and I use 89, per the manual's specification. IIRC, it says 87 is an acceptable substitute if 89 is not available.

The problem is that in 2002, you could get either the GT-40 Ford engine, that likes 89 octane, or the GM engine that likes 87 octane.

I see this quite often, and it always makes me wonder why people refer to the manuals on CCF instead of the ones right here on this site. We actually had them first!

In my 2002 SAN w/excallabur 330 hp, engine specs say 87 octane. I just add the stabil ethanol treatment to the gas at each fill up. Not a huge expenditure since these boats are pricey to replace and fix

Hi all,

I have the excalibur 330 in my boat. I guess 87 octane is the way to go. Just out of curiosity in the thread above from ERS, he mentions that he manually adds ethanol .. whats the logic behind this ? I am from canada so I am not sure if I should do the same ...

Do not manually add ethanol.
He adds a fuel stabilizer. If the boat sits for a long period of time, this helps the gas not go bad if it sits in the boat too long.
This is not necessary if you use the boat often enough to have to put new gas in it a few to several times a month.

The treatment he mentioned does not add ethanol it is a treatment to counter the ill effects of ethanol in the fuel itself.
