I need new drum brakes so I thought I'd replace the hubs while I'm at it. I don't want a cheaply made set. I have an 06 ram-lin galvanized with 16" 5-lug wheel. I need to measure before I buy brake stuff or hubs, but I believe 10" hubs. Thanks again.

Have NAPA "turn" the drums for a new surface for the new pads. Just like new if the lining thickness is not out of spec. Specs should be stamped on the outside of the drum. You should get three sets of shoes to one drum.2005 SV-211

So I found my closest napa 20miles away. Plan on taking hubs in tomorrow. Question: when I spin every hub it seems like it slightly rubs on the brake drum lip in a spot. Will turning fix this or do I need new hubs and or brakes? I'm still confused about brakes. Can you Rec. Some from west marine? I dont know if i need a kit or assembly ....So close to getting her in the water.

Are you sure you need to replace the brakes, and not just adjust the brakes. Trailer drum brakes need to be adjusted manually periodically. I know on my previous boat, I had to adjust them typically once a year. They are supposed to be self adjusting, but that didn't always happen. If you let the brake fluid get too low, you could also have air in the hydraulic system. The brake manufacturer (should be a sticker on the trailer tongue) would be the best to recommend which brake shoes to get. They should also have documentation to service the brakes. UFP, Tiedown, etc. will have an engineer on staff ready to take any calls for tech support. Use them, they have always provided valuable information. Not trying to be discouraging here, but if you haven't ever changed drum brakes, or repacked bearings, you could be getting yourself in trouble. If it looks like you are going to be spending several hundred dollars, consider changing to disc brakes. I added a second set of disc brakes to my trailer this winter for under $300. I did look at ram-lin trailers, and they only sell nautique parts through the dealer, but whoever they used for the brake parts during manufacturing should be readily accessible, use them. Good luck.2005 SV-211

I can handle repacking the hubs but won't do the brakes myself. I have never blead any before or messed with non discs. I'm not changing to discs bc i plan on selling sometime. And yes tech said I needed new ones soon a while ago. Just trying to save cash. Dog just had double TECA surgery that ran me 2500$ and I'm unemployed student.

sorry to beat a dead horse, but: took of my rear hub today. it has a round spindle while the front hub of the same side has a "d" shaped spindle that is flat on one side and includes an odd washer. also, o'reilly will spin my hubs for 8$ each. why would a trailer shop charge 35? i almost feel like calling him to tell him he's trying to rip people off by over 4x the going rate.

Final question. I have the zerk ez lube style spindles. When I replace the bearings and races, etc should increase them at all or just grease and spin? Or should i go traditional and pack bearings, seal, spindle before and then put grease in zerk and spin.
