    Upholstery repair

I have a 2 inch tear in my engine cover upholstery. Does anyone have any ideas for how to repair upholstery? I've checked out the "as seen on TV" repair kits online, but have no idea if they work very well. Thanks!

I would take the engine cover to a local auto upholsterer. Most will do the job for a pretty reasonable fee.

I tried the repair kits you can buy at the auto store on our old boat, I never could get the color right, then I used too much heat and the result was not good.
I'd take it to a local shop, it'll cost a few bucks but you'll be happier in the long run.

        49Flatfish,

I noticed that you are in Auburn, I'm in Sac. I work for West Coast and we use Colors on Parade. I'd have to say that all of their work is unrecognizeable once done. Ask for Randy, he does all of our work at the shop.

Thanks. I will give Randy at Colors on Parade a call and maybe post before and after pics.
