Airtool, thats a good summary of the different types, but you forgot to include their names.

    Straight boom = straight
Straight contour = bend down only
Universal contour = bend down AND back
Quad contour = bend down and quite a bit back/forwards

If Im not mistaken, the quad contour is actually meant for v-drives with aft mounted pylons- I would not want to run one on a direct drive. I have come across very few Straight Contours... most people use either the straight or Universal contour, the latter being more common.

The reason the straight boom is less popular in general is because most boats cant fit them. Direct Drive Correct Crafts (at least the ones prior to the 200) with their short windshields pushed forwards, were among the very few types of boats that could use them. The straight booms are my preference, one reason being that they are very easy to store.

They have B204 and B204V. I ASSUME the difference is the length of the guy wires. The wires on my B200 would not make it to the v-drive location on a long boat.

Also everyone note that the B202, B204, and B204V standard shape is for PORT side only. Starboard booms are available by special request and probably have a wait time for bending. They keep uncoated B200 inner bars in stock and bend to order....then send to the anodizer.

The only difference between a port and starboard contour bar is the milling of the clamp surface. Ive seen several BI's with square bosses and holes drilled in both directions. This allows you to put the curve forward on the port side OR towards the rear when running it on the starboard. I can only assume they came from BI this way? Not all have that though- a buddy of mine had his universal contour milled down and drilled.

I had it out the pass. side. I never tried the drivers side. Sorry for the delay in a response.
