Either the voltage is out of range at low throttle or it is installed wrong. Get the code reader and find out what it says before wasting anymore money chasing gremlins though.

Yep, TFI module, that's what I said and meant

They are cheap, and crucial for these motors to operate. I would keep a spare on board just in case. You also need the tool to remove it as the 2 tiny screws that hold it on are a PITA to get to, and IIRC are a special head as well. It's a quick and easy job to do if you have the proper tool. I have the tool laying around in my tool box for when I get a 5.8 GT40 nautique. I sold all my 5.0 mustangs, but I am keeping the tool for my boat upgrade in the somewhat near future.

Ok, I'm tracking now. Thanks for the info and good luck getting a GT40 Nauti, I love mine, despite this issue I'm having! It's truly been a great boat.

You'll get it sorted out soon I'm sure.

I love my 78 Martinique with the 351. It's even more fun since I added GT40P heads and an edelbrock performer intake to it, but I need/ want a bowrider, with more beam and just more room. My martinique is the same hull as the mid 70's to very early 80's closed bow ski nautiques.
I've spent a lot of time redoing the interior of my nautique back when I got it about 10 years ago, but there's just only so much room, and a tower is way out of place on a boat like mine. I've spent quite a bit of time in late 90's to early 2000 airs and sport nautiques, and all had the gt40. Since I am so familiar with the ford efi system from my mustang days, getting a marine version one in a bigger nicer hull would be perfect. So much so that I will pass on any GM powered one, unless I get some amazing deal. If I ever get a GM powered nautique I wouldn't ever be proud of it's motor.

Does anyone know of a engine code reader tool that we can purchase for around $100+ for PCM 5.7L there are some marine ones out there for $600+ but there has to be a cheaper version.

Try adjusting the idle air control valve sounds like ECU is having trouble controlling idle speed hence the lumpy cam sound and stall issue
