    Inceasing Lift Capacity

Does anyone know about increasing the capacity of a boat lift? I'm looking at a 2,500lb Hewitt cantilever style, which doesn't look any different from their 3,000-3,400lb models (the dimensions of the aluminum tubing that is). Would it just need a stronger cable or winch to beef it up?

Very possibly. I know there is no difference in the frame of the 3k and 4k lb Hewitts- the difference is in the winch and/or cable. I would call Hewitt to confirm.
