    What Does This Wire Do?

    Sorry, I don't have a picture, but here's what I'm looking at:

There's a small gauge (appx 12 AWG?) red wire that is attached to the positive battery terminal (in addition to the 2 AWG cable). I'm in the process of upgrading my electrical system including cables, so I want to make sure I know where this goes before I do anything to it.

My assumption is that it goes to the ON-OFF-BILGE switch and then on to the helm bus from there, but I just thought I'd double check to be sure. Boat is a 2002 SAN.

In case it helps, here's a picture. The small wire also has a 30A inline fuse.

That doesn't seem right. The toggle switch is not good for 30 amps (fuse size stated in your next post)

maybe it goes straight to the panel or maybe the alternator. I might can look at mine later in the weekend.

          Power to the breaker box

When I redid my wiring I believe it went to the breaker box on the kick plate in front of the driver. That then powers the dash and all of the accessories. I replaced mine with a 4 ga wire with a 30 amp inline fuse.

Thanks guys...I figured it was something like that. I've wanted to upgrade the wire anyway (I get voltage drop, especially when I use the hatch actuator buttons), so I'll start with this thing first.
