Anti-siphon valve

I've read many posts about cleaning the anti-siphon valve on the gas tank. I've seen the 90 elbow connected to the tank. Do you need to unscrew it and take it out to clean it?

yep, unscrew it, and take it out of the boat. You'll see a ball valve and hopefully your culprit.

Mine had bees or wasps in it, blocking fuel flow much more than idle.

Replaced mine last year after the boat started dying out of the hole. $11 for a new one and it runs like a top again. I didn't bother with cleaning it, but that sounds pretty economical, too.

Where did you get a new one? I didn't see one at Ski dim.

Since you have to take the old one out in either case, you might as well just clean it out and use the 11 dollars to buy a gallon of gas. LOL

I cleaned mine out, but it didn't seem bad. I used thread sealant putting it back in, but only waited an hour for it to dry. I've read that there is no cure time on sealant for up to 1000 PSI. How long do you typically wait for it to cure/dry?
