    ACME 645 vs 1235 prop on 236/230

So we blew out my original 645 prop today and I want to understand what I am going to gain and lose if I go with the 1235. We mainly surf with alot of weight and wakeboard. I understand that I will lose some top end on the 1235. How much? Also what will I gain? Is it that much louder than the 645? I have the ZR-6 motor and live and use at sea level in Texas.

    Thanks,

Nobody?? I'm also really curious. Now owning a 645, but perhaps it's time to find a better prop (expecially for fuel).

    Thanks, Tom

I use a 1235 , I replaced for the pull power, stock plus 3000 lbs I adjust weight for each person over two not counting the rider. top in? ,do not known never cruise over 30 so do not know about top in, do know brought down the rpm well over 500 , around 3000 rpm know fully weighted with rider at 23 mph

The folks at Delta (PN Sponsor) or ACME (who makes your 645) will be able to help you. They know Nautiques, too. I run the 645 and it does fine both top end and out of the hole (375 hp), but we have diverse needs which I think suits the 645, and it was the stock "Team" prop for our Nautique, so at this point I haven't changed it.

Also depends on your use, hp, running speed and load. For instance, my kids aren't riding with ballast yet, wife uses a little, I use stock, and we surf. So going all the way to a 1235 for me would mean great hole shot but lower top end (we ski and WB). I think the engine turns 2700 rpm when towing the kids at about 18. But since there's no ballast load, I am thinking its not putting too large of a load on the engine (is mid 3,000 rpm the sweet spot for the engine that we want to be hitting for engine life?). I think the engine is in the low 3,000s when I ride. When our needs even out more (when the kids are wanting ballast for bigger wakes) then I'll look at a change.

Guys running with a lot of ballast will need less pitch and greater diameter (I think I got that right). If you get the specs off the 1235 and the 645, and study the diameter and pitch relationship, you can understand the attributes of adjusting each. Talking to the guy at ACME helped me.
