I take it your boat sees a little salt water once in a while.
I've never done it but my advice would be to remove the rubber hose that feeds the strainer from the ball valve, support the thru hull portion of the pipe and then take it off with a pipe wrench. Be careful where the force of the wrench is going you don't want to damage the thru hull fitting or more importantly crack fiberglass. That may or may not work, try heat or penetrating oil if it doesn't. Tap lightly with a hammer when you are trying to loosen.
Reassemble with anti-sieze just to make the next removal easier.2018 200 Team H6

Thank you j2nh
Bingo! ALot of salt water.
We followed your advice and managed to get the job done in 2-3 hours including several trips to Cove Marina in Norwalk, CT for parts. Over the past 4 days, I've replaced the ball valve, installed a new steering cable and put in a new starter. Hopefully, I'm done for the summer.
