    Blank dash insert

Just got a 2003 SAN and wanted to get a wired remote that works with the Kenwood stereo that is in the boat. I have found a couple of wired remotes that would work, but nothing is the same size as the OEM Clarion remote.
Is there such a thing as a blank dash panel/inserts? I could then use whatever remote would work best for my application.

I hate having to open the glove box to adjust volume during the day. Gets old quick...

    Thanks!

Is this what you're looking for? Something to block off the 2 1/16" hole when you remove the remote?

I found that before, but I am looking for a new dash piece that built to not have a remote in it so I can do whatever remote I want. I know it wont be as stock looking as the original, but I wont have to cut out the bevel. Does this even exist?

The 3rd pic in this thread is what you're talking about. If you read on in the second page, he talks about a "local guy" custom making this insert for him. I've seen a few other posts over the years of guys doing something similar but this is the most recent that I can find. Doesn't sound like the local guy is making these anymore though.

I also have the same issue with my '03. When I get around to swapping my deck, I'm going to do something similar...

That is perfect! Too bad the guy said it was custom made by a local guy that doesnt do it anymore. I may have to try to do it myself.

Alright, this is the thread I remember from last year. There are several different options on here from DIY to a custom insert made by N3 Boatworks. Read through this thread and you should find what you're looking for...hope this helps. If you do make the swap, post some pics...

I really like how that could work with the last DIY one. I just dont have anything to cut and finish aluminum like that. I may play with some HDPE and plexi that I have sitting around.

I have a bronze dash and my wife loves the look of it. Anyone know if that paint could be purchased?

Disregard my post on your other thread about the engine SN. A friend of mine was going to buy that boat and dilly dally'd too long.

With respect to your stereo. You stated elsewhere that you were going to yank the speakers, and such. How about for your deck you get the Alpine CDA9886M, and the MC1 remote. White Lake sells a replacement remote plate for round remotes that fit the Alpine one perfectly. You also do not need an iPod dock for this deck. The 3 line display on the remote displays all your iPod info and fully controls it. Leave your speaks alone til you can pop for Wetsounds.

Congrats again on the purchase. I thought that boat looked awesome and was priced good.

Yup thats the (and now my!) boat. Got a great deal and worked with Nisswa on it. They were really awesome to deal with. I just put perfect pass SG in today and should be heading the lake in a couple of hours. Wish it wasnt so **** windy. Now just gotta play with the weighting.

As for the speakers. I pulled out the center two head bonkers and am going to trade them for some 750 fly high sacs. I couldnt believe how they have that stereo wired with the amp. Doesnt make sense at all, everything is split off to power all 12 speakers from a 4 channel amp! Cant wait to start pullling the whole thing apart to get it redone correctly with the right amps/amount of channels.

I will eventually be pulling the hard tanks and putting in those in. I also pulled off the gaudy tower lights. I didnt like the tower looking like a Jeep...
