PCM ZR6 Will Start, But Won't Throttle Up

I have a 2006 Super Air Nautique with a PCM 6.0 ZR6. The boat took a fair amount of fresh water over the bow this past weekend. As the bilge pumps got on top of it the motor cut out. The engine immediately restarted, but will not go above idle speed either in gear or out of gear. Sounds a little like limp mode, but most I've heard of will throttle up to at least 2000 RPM.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Chris

Try diconnecting the throttle cable then starting the engine and moving the throttle arm by hand. If the linkage is not adjusted correctly, it will not throttle up

Yup sounds like your throttle cable. Do as said above and just try and move it by hand and see what your engine does.

2006 was the first year of DBW, sounds like your pedal position switch has gone haywire and non functioning.

It was the Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) Module. Part ordered. Thanks for the help!

TAC same as the pedal position switch. Glad it was easy fix, not cheap but easy.

how did it take on that much water. do you think that caused the problem?

I'm not sure... It didn't take on enough water to get to the TAC Module. It could be that it was enough to get to the place it grounds and caused a problem.

Update... It definitely is looks like a TAC issue, but appears it is more of a ground or terminal connection issue. Does anyone know where the TAC grounds? It looks like I have to dismantle half the motor to follow the wires. Any other ideas why the TAC wouldn't be getting steady voltage?

                      Hi Chris,

Did you manage to sort the problem. I have a problem that sometimes the engine runs well and then randomly it starts acting erratic. I have changes the TPS but the DIACOM seems to point me towards the TAC so I was thinking it could be a faulty ground or connection as well.

                      Cheers

I know this is a really old post, but since Ra140 posted a followup with the something similar, I thought i'd pass on my experience. I also have an 06 SANTE. It started acting really weird where the engine would go to limp mode when crossing a wake. At first a really big wake, then a tiny one and one day it was stuck in limp mode. It took me a while but I finally found the issue (I also replaced the TAC in the process which was money wasted). It turned out to be behind the kick panel at the driver feet - the main power terminal wire for positive had lost the bolt that holds it tight. So the power would come and go as we crossed wakes. Simple fix - had to buy a range of nuts to get the right one because the original nut was MIA. Hope this helps someone else. I always seem to have problems that no one has ever heard of but this one sounds similar. Good Luck
