1995 Super Sport Breaker Panel Install/Perko Switch

So after years of having the fuse panel installed in my boat I decided to change to a breaker panel. Once in a while I would have a fuse blow from a ballast pump, from sticking or whatever. You can see my original install from the link in my signature. As you will notice in my original install I installed the fuse panel and Perko switch on the side walkway wall. When I installed my heater I built a kick panel which put the fuse panel behind it So if I ever had to change a fuse it sucked. I took everything out and reinstalled the new breaker panel and Perko switch on my kick panel. Now if anything happens I can just reset it and I can also turn the power to my items on or off. Also, now the Perko switch is easy to see and adjust.

Super clean install..... great idea. have you ever replaced any breakers in the dash? a couple of mine are a little sticky and tough to push...?

Also, off subject... how much water do you think you take on during a 5 hour outing? assuming you dont use the bilge pumps? I was out the other day for the first time and when I pulled it out, there was about 5 gallons of water in the bilge/center locker area... I replaced the ruder stuffing and that seemed to be good, I could not see the prop shaft stuffing box, so I think I need to replace that too (I doubt its ever been replaced on my 95 from the previous owner)... 5 gal sounds excessive... but I didnt use the bilge pump all day (noob error). what do you think?

I haven't had to replace anything on the dash.
I don't get that much water. With your boat sitting in the water check your shaft stuffing/nut. Get a visual on that and see how much is dripping through that. If it's a steady drip, then that's to much. You could try tightening the nut a little if that is happening. A few years ago I went to mess with mine and I didn't even have a wrench that would fit in there at the time.............took it to the dealer and had them replace the packing in there.

Hey Wake-fun.... I found the cause of the leak in the 95 SS... it was the shaft packing... I replaced it with the Goretex stuffing and it was perfect.. few drops and very little water all day... I also found a broken bile pump... although it was making the noise.. it wasnt pumping.. the impeller was stripped... so I replaced that while I was down there.

Here's a strange question, but you are a great source when it comes to the 95 SS... I appreciate the advice... I spent all day Sat in the local river/lake... its pretty green/brown most of the time... when I pull out the boat I saw brownish splotchy gelcoat at or just below waterline.... it almost looked like where I had missed waxing last time... well nothing would clean it.. so I spent the last two days with a buffer and 3M compound buffing it out of the gelcoat... what the heck was that? Was it the brown water soaking into the gel? Whats a good wax? Will Carnauba wax work? Thanks!

Good job getting the leak fixed. I don't know about that gel coat blotching. See if it happens again now that you have it all perfect. I just used some of THIS and it worked good.

Wow. I put in two days of buffing which it needed. But a friend told me to use Lysol toilet bowl cleaner. That worked so easy. Wiped the blotchy right off. Put on rag and wipe it clean. Or 50/50 toilet bowl cleaner and hydrogen peroxide. Works wonders. Then re wax.
