    Battery Recommendation

I'm thinking I might need a new battery for my 98 Air Nautique DD. I would like to get some recommendations on what brand/type etc to make sure I get a reliable one.

I have the GT-40 EFI engine and stereo isn't TOO fancy, kenwood head unit and 1 5-channel amp pushing 2 pairs of 6.5" mids and a 12" sub.

Let me know what you recommend so I can purchase with confidence! Thanks!

If you want one of the best out there... http://www.odysseybatteries.com/

For a normal lead acid. It's hard to beat Interstate batteries.

I have a Delco starting battery with about 850 cca on a 98 SN. Virtually the same stereo. JVC head, 5 channel Infinity amp, 4 speakers and a sub. Works like a charm and reasonably priced. My last one was going on four and a half years when I sold the boat.

I've always used different kinds of batteries over the years - best bat I've used is Optima - I don't even have to charge after winter and it cranks first time. I have two in the boat on a perco - just turn off after I'm finished.

I just picked up the big Die Hard Platinum (made by Odyssey). 1100 CCA's. I couldn't find anything that compared to the CCA's of this thing. Good amp hours as well. Thing is military spec and heavy as heck. It's not cheap though. I don't have a history with how well this thing works, but forum member bchesney is a big fan. These are AGM.

Last year, I replaced my stock interstates to the Die Hard's. They are great batteries made by military class standards. They power my 4 amplifiers and a pair of wetsounds 485. No problem so far. I highly recommend them. Although, have someone help you carry that mother up, because that is a monster to carry.Click image for larger version

I have gone through so many optima's. IMO they are junk and overrated a good friend of mine works for interstate and hooked me up with the 2 bigger commercial style deep cycles Interstate batteries just a bit bigger than a normal size and 1 regular size deep cycle and a cranking for starting. no complaints here I have never ran them down to dead with having had my stereo full blast for 4-5 hours. I run 3,300 watts on my stereo they seem good to me. He also says optima's are no good they get returns all the time.

My audio guy also said the optimas are not very good, not sure why but he builds systems for boats and cars with multiple batteries and interstate batteries are the ones he uses alot, and what im about to buy.

I told my friend I just bought the die-hard platinum (Optima) and he said a friend of his with a Supra has had one of those for the last 10 years and it has never failed him. He keeps wanting to replace it to be safe, but the thing just keeps performing with no hiccups.

However, for big audio systems when you will be playing for the whole weekend, golf cart batteries are the way to go.
