2001 SAN Perfect Pass PLEASE HELP

Hey Crew,

The Perfect Pass and speedo are not working on my 2001 SAN. The paddle wheel is fine and spins freely...... I can't seem to figure it out. I noticed my batterys are at 12 amps instead of 14 and was wondering if this might be the problem. Don't know that it is, but I have checked everything else. Let me know what you guys think....

You mean 12 and 14 volts? And do you have digital or ano?

ano speedo (digital PP) no boat reads 12 amps it should be 14 amps though right?

Check the connections, especially at the module where the paddlewheel connects.

If the power is a little bit low, you usually get annoying beeping from the perfect pass. As such, I don't think that is it. 12v should also be enough anyway. Your module might have gone bad. Can you hook your paddlewheel directly up to the speedo and check just the speedo?

BTW, I am assuming that your PP is not coming on at all. If that is not the case, please explain exactly what works and what does not.

I had a issue where the pp was not registering any speed. Is the PP dead or just not registering info? If its the first, try a system reset. I forget how to to it, but reset is an option in the menu. It may have been to hold on/off and menu while you turn the ignition on.

Hi i had exactly the same problem. No speed reading on either the speedo or the perfect pass. Everything else worked ok. Obviously the wakeboard pro perfect pass didnt work in wakeboard mode as there was no speed reading but still worked in RPM mode. I contacted Perfect Pass and they were very helpful. Considering i have never brought anything personally from Perfect Pass there service was fantastic. Big respect to Aaron Adams from Perect Pass.

There is a Voltage test you can do to test the paddlewheel is working. This is what i did and it proved my paddlewheel was no good. I brought a new paddle wheel and that sorted my perfect pass out. My speedo still does not work but at leat i can see and use the speed on PP.

When i did this test i was always reading around 11 volts on the green wire and the red wire. i never had more volts than that. Aaron from Perfect Pass assured me that this voltage was ok. He said the Paddle wheel should drag the voltage on the green wire down. Mine stayed at 11 volts no matter what was happening at the paddle wheel.
This proved paddle wheel to be faulty.

I live in the Uk so sourced my paddle wheel from a uk company but i believe Nautiqueparts.com do them for less than $100.

Yours may not be the paddle wheel but hopefully this will help you diagnose the problem.

PP is coming on its just no showing any speed.

Then it is either the paddlewheel or module. Hparks' test is the place to start.

My perfect pass would power on. Chexi is right if its not the paddle wheel its most likey the module. I think perfect pass can repair them.
Also worth just checking that the chip inside the module is seated correctly.

Okay I did the voltage test tonight I came up with a negitve 9 then got lower and lower. At a constant spin it reads zero. I will call PP tomarrow but the negitve dosen't sound right.
