2004 SANTE - Depth Finder Problems - Sounds Alarm ever 30-60 Sec

Just purchased a 2004 SANTE and the depth finder sounds the alarm every 30-60 seconds, you can silence it by pressing the up/down arrows at the same time - it is very annoying. Is it the gauge? Is it the transducer? Brain Box (not sure of the actual name)?

Any insight on troubleshooting this? Should I start with the transducer, how hard is it to replace?

Any help would be great!

What are the shallow and deep water alarms set at? First thing I would do is check those and either change the setting or disable the alarm. If you set the shallow/deep water alarm to zero I believe that disables it.

If its still going off after that then start troubleshooting.

I guess I will pull out the manual and see how to reset the alarms - thanks for the heads up!

I pulled the plug from the Gateway Box and continued to get the depth alarm, so I finally unplugged the gauge to silence it - any additional thoughts?

Anybody out there have any ideas about this problem? Was working fine for the first few hours on the lake.. second time out and the alarm is going off every few minutes and the depth readings are way out of whack.

Also, when I press and hold the M key to turn it off (as per the manual) I don't get the countdown that the manual claims I should be getting. In order to turn the depth finder off I have to press all three buttons a bunch of different ways and eventually I get lucky and it displays OFF. No countdown is ever shown though.

Could this possibly point to the gauge?
