fuel sender out and ran out of gas last weekend....refilled tank with fresh gas....Sunday, very, very rough idle...surging from close to 0 up to 900 or so on the tach. when I give it gas....it smoothes out and runs great. I turned up the idle speed screw just to be able to keep it running for the day without it dying everytime I went into neutral. My first thought is that trash/junk from the tank got into the idle system of the carb and the symptoms went away when I accelerate because the main jets were opening at that point. Any suggestions. I have not checked with a vacuum gauge yet. Am I looking at removing and rebuilding the carb? Anyone else experience this?
The only thing that changes my mind about junk in the carb is that we ran the boat all day after we had re-filled the tank with absolutely none of these symptoms. The next time out.....terrible.
