99 Pro Air steering cable replacement?

    Hi,
Has anyone done a steering cable on the Pro Air boats? Is it neccessary to remove the starboard ballast tank to get at the rudder/cable junction? Any other tricks waiting for me?

Also, as a general rule, how often does one need to change the steering cable? Is it a regular maintenance item, or is it a neglect and pay it later kind of thing?

    thanks,
    Jack

    Jack,
I havent done one on a pro-air, but I did mine on my ski. The one tip I can give you is to pull the new cable through when you remove the old cable (ie, somehow tie/tape the two together and pull the new one in when you pull the old one out). Otherwise, you will spend hours trying to feed the new cable through... Trust me!
