96 Sport - Engine overheat, shut down, wont start now

Hoping for some advise in getting my old girl up and running again. Last trip last year, was cruising Don Pedro and ran over a patch of junk in the water and it clogged my water intake filter, which overheated the motor and the red light came on and it shut down like it should. I'm assuming there's a relay or switch somewhere that shut down the power? We cooled it off, been sitting now forever, the thing still wont start. Turns over, no fire.

Is there a relay I need to reset? A breaker? Please help! Thanks.

96 Sport Nautique, PCM TBI GM 5.7 motor, direct drive.

Might not be related. Is your lanyard connected?

Ha, I'm not betting you. You know way more than I do about these engines. I'm just trying to start with the low hanging fruit.

There is a big red breaker on the back of the engine that you can easily check too.

Ha... YES the dam lanyard was connected. And we tried the big red breaker several times. It does not appear that it was tripped at all. Had the same feel to it as it always does.

I'm going to replace the coil next, I know sometimes when they get hot they can go down. Any other ideas? Any breakers on the dash to check?

I'm bringing this back up a year later, because I'm having the SAME problems. The injectors spit fuel sometimes, but not awlays. If i pour some gas in the throttle body, she fires right up but there's nothing coming out of the injectors.

            Replaced high pressure pump
            Replaced fuel pump relay
Replaced cap, rotor, plugs, wires (runs great when it has fuel)
Elimiated fuel filter right in front of low pressure pump (fuel seems to flow easy from the tank)

So its STILL a fuel issue, I just dont know if its electronics keeping the fuel pumps shut down.

I connected the kill switch wire to wire, its not that.

            My to do list:
Make sure all battery connections and fuses are good
Check neutral safety switch on tranny (not sure how to do this)
Replace low pressure pump (its the only thing left)
Check fuel pressure at the trottle body

What am I missing? I'm so dam frustrated!! any ideas most appreciated.
