    Throttle control difficult...Morse MV-2 on a 95 SN

It takes a lot of pressure to get from neutral to fwd or reverse but once there the throttle moves smooth with normal resistance as new. The button that pulls out and locks the clutch in neutral is very hard to pull out as well. I can't figure out what the issue is and have lubed what I could get access to. Anyone have this experience? The finger release under the knob that allows the throttle arm to move works fine.
    Thanks, John

When you move the throttle into gear, it moves the shift cable only. After the shift cable has moved, then the throttle cable starts moving, and from that point on, the shift cable no longer moves.

It might be time for a new shift cable.

Found the answer and it was not at all what I thought. Last time I had the prop shaft relubed the mechanic didn 't replace the two bolts that hold the rear floor board in place behind the engine cover. I put two new lifters for the engine cover on and since they are strong, they pulled that floor board a bit forward. This caused the inside rear of the engine cover (attached to that floor board) to put some pressure on the exhaust muffler housing which in turn caused it to rest against the shift linkage giving me lots of confusion staring at my throttle assembly for hours. That was fun!
