I kept my boat in the water for about 3 weeks. The water here in AZ is really hard and a water line developed on my gelcoat. I pulled the boat out and keep it on a lift now, but there is a water line on the boat. I waxed the boat using a well recommended wax (I foget the name) that cleans and polishes. It comes in a white can with a shark on it. Anyway, I threw one coat of wax on the whole boat using my buffer and a second coat on the water line by hand. The water line got a lot better, but it is not gone. How do I get rid of the water line? thanks

Buy some FSR (fiberglass stain remover) that is the actual name of the product. Comes in a clear plastic container and it is a gell like blue
mix. Wipe it on and wait then wipe it off. It really does work even if the stain has been on for some time. On an older boat it will make the white brighter
then the rest of the boat so thats the only down side! It is totally safe to use. If you look on the net you will find it and I know Overtons sells it as well.
Over the last number of years I have a boat lift in use but before then I would always use it cause my boat would sit in the water.

Try FSR (Fiberglass stain remover). It's a gel and really easy on and off. I'm not sure you should have waxed the boat because now there's wax covering up the stain. Get some FSR, use a compound and get the wax off - maybe try a small location first with and without removing the wax and see what happens. I used to use a boat that stayed in the water 24/7 in college and always had a brown water line on it. We'd pull the boat out, use this stuff and the stain would come right off.
Let me know what happens if you try it. Here's a link:

This is the first time I have seen anyone suggest FRS on this site - but I agree- that stuff works great on tough stains.06 Ski Nautique 196 SE (2010)

Starbrite Hull Cleaner should get rid of the mark. Start with a 50/50 mix with water. Use it neat if the stain is stubborn. Re-apply polish and wax afterwards to make sure you keep a protective layer of wax on the hull.2010 Ski Nautique 200 Team Edition Open Bow, Radar Strada

Cleaning of water line
Use cleaning with oxalic acid.
It makes the boat white like new. and does not hurt the Gel coat.
here in Denmark you can buy something called "505 Freeboard cleaning”
you take the boat out of the water, and apply it with a brush. let it sit for 15 min and wash it of with water, and your boat is like new.
It is some nasty stuff do, so wear cloves and glasses. and make sure you dont have any skin in the free. it can burn if it sits to long on skin.
You can also get pure oxalic acid and dilute it with water. but i dont now the mixture.
