Here's another newbie (too lazy to open up the dash panel) question. Got an 02' San with a battery in the rear under a seat and another in the bow. On the upper right hand corner of the dash kick panel I have the battery kill switches. I turned one or the other off and still got juice to the dash.
Without knowing all the details and opening up the panel to inspect the battery connections, I am assuming that these batteries are wired in parallel and the switches are simply for turning them off for charging one or the other or for storage. I will also assume there is no isolator and the drain on each will be equal when both are on and the system is running.
The boat is stock right now with now tower speakers and just the 4X40 watt amp with sub. Two batteries in parallel seems fine for this purpose. The batteries that came with the boat are generic wet cell and are in decent shape. I am considering replacing them both with the dual cycle blue tops. Should I replace them both at once?? Seems like the right thing to do as I am assuming they can drain from each other.
Also, the rear battery sits in a recess in the deck, that **** recess fills with water and it drives me nuts. Is there any way to remedy that?? Like a drain hole into the bilge?? Seems to be lower than the bilge though.
Thanks in advance.
