    replaced impeller & still heating

    Bought an '88 2001 from broker in Dec. installed flush pro. ran in salt water 1 time. flushed. took to lake & it heated. replaced BADLY shredded impeller. took to lake & heats on trailer. anybody know what other problems/solutions could be?

    Did you fish out all the impeller bits from the cooling system?

      I agree with chexi. Also make sure you don't have air leaks in the flush pro

        Make sure you didn't put the pump on upside down . If its a 351 the pump should be mounted with the hoses on the block side.

          no. never had an inboard. thanks. its in shop. expensive lesson I bet.

            Yes, definitely check the orientation of the pump (if you took the pump completely off when changing the impeller). On these old Fords it is possible to put them in upside down, in which case they spin but you get no water to the engine. Maybe not a bad idea to check just in case anyway. The last person might have gotten it wrong.
