    Volt gauge pegged at 18

Have a 98 nautique 196 gt-40 and the volt gauge needle is staying at 18. Starts fine, and runs great.
Could it be a faulty gauge or be overcharging. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I would think a quick check with a volt meter at the battery while it's running would tell you if it's really at 18v. If it reads around 13.5, it's probably the gauge. If it still reads 18 at the battery, sounds like you might have a voltage regulation problem in the alternator.
