I went to start my 1984 ski nautique 2001 and found that I had no throttle advance in the reverse throttle position. I had throttle advance in the forward position for awhile, but as I was working it back and forth trying to assess the problem, it started to go forward advance about 3/4 of the way and then I would hear a click in the cable and the throttle linkage at the carburetor would snap back to the starting position. I have checked the linkage connections at the throttle and at the carburetor and both are intact. The transmission cable is working properly and switching from neutral to forward and neutral to reverse. Did I just have a throttle cable go? If so, why did it work in the forward position for awhile after it lost reverse? Any help would be appreciated.
