2002 SAN 210 perfect pass problems and high idle

We had a couple new belts put on last weekend due to wear and one of them breaking. The boat ran perfect for about 30 minutes, then progressively got worse. When the boat was in neutral or even just barely in gear the RPM's would gradually increase until it leveled out and stayed very high. I would have to keep it in neutral and give it throttle to get it back down to a normal idle, but the process would just keep repeating. I don't know if perfect pass has anything to do with that problem, but it was very spuratic this weekend. It would turn off randomly along with slowing down way too much, then work it's way but up to speed. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Check the troubleshooting guide in the PP manual. My initial guess would be that when they did the work on your belts they bumped your servo out of place and the cable is now binding in the cable sheath. Check your hose clamps on the servo to see if they are still tight. If they were a bit loose, it could have moved a bit while you were out also.

Ok, so I went through all of the trouble shooting for the PP and everything checked out alright yet the idle is still way to high. I even disconneted the brass L bracket which connects the throttle cable to PP, so basically bipassing it and still the same result. So from this I suppose you can say the perfect pass has nothing to do with the engine racing. I'm at a dead end so again, any help is appreciated.
Oh and thanks for the initial response Chexi.

            From the 2002 PCM manual:

NOTICE: Engine idle speed is controlled by the ECM
and is based on the operating temperature of the engine.
Upon initial start-up, engine RPM will be slightly higher
and will automatically decrease as the engine operating
            temperature increases.

Based on that I would assume there may be an issue with the ECM or a sensor sending a false reading to the ECM. Outside of finding where the ECM is located and checking all connections and grounds at the ECM, I dont have much else to suggest. If it was my boat this would be the time I decide if its over my head or not and call the dealer and make an appointment to have it check out. Best of luck, let us know what resolves the issue.
