    Question on Optima Batteries

Anyone use the blue top D34M series? It is the dual purpose with 750 CCA. I was just wondering if that would be fine for my 99 SAN or if I needed one of the models with more CCA in it. Is one of the other versions more preferable? I rarely just sit and listen to the radio, but would like that option once in a while.

    Thanks

Assuming these are the smaller of the two dual purpose, I used a pair in my old 99 Air hooked up to a Blueseas add a battery isolator/combiner and they worked fine. I never had a problem cranking (with only 1 battery). I did only have the setup for 2 years though before I sold the boat late this Spring.

There are better options for deep cycle audio, but if you don't park for 8 hours stints and crank the tunes, you don't really need to go the golf cart battery route. I would, however, recommend getting a pair instead of just 1, but I would always recommend 2 batteries over 1. The alternative is a portable jump start device.

I would recommend the red top if it is being used for your primary starting battery.
