Screws Pulled out of my Glove Box / Stereo Box Enclosure (SANTE 220)

Fairly simply problem but the lid to my stereo box (SANTE 220) has an arm that pushes up and keeps it open when it's not clicked closed. The screws that attach that arm to the lid pulled out completely. I went to Home Depot and simply bought a new set of screws but slightly larger so they can grab the fiberglass and hold stronger. The old screws don't work anymore because they're not wide enough.

That's all I'm thinking about doing. Should I do something else or try this first?

I would fill the old holes with epoxy resin retap them with a smaller screw bit and reset the old screws....
