My 2003 Ski 206 (Excalibur 330) started running poorly over the weekend. Missing/running rough at idle and then missing/running rough on acceleration until, say 2500-3200 rpm when suddenly starts running great. Jumps out of the water like I shifted gears. Will run great for full set but as soon as I drop the throttle, same problem exists. I have owned since new and never had a tune up of any sort and have 400 ish hours. I changed all plugs and the high pressure fuel filter with no effect. Ran a bottle of injector cleaner through it but no help. Neither the check engine light nor any of the other data screens are showing any problem. Any thoughts? Plug wires? Distributor? Nearest dealer is 2 1/2 hours away.

For now, clean that cap and wipe it all those little metal soldiers standing at attention and go have some fun.
You should still go check that recall notice.
Report back on the cap.Last edited by AirTool; 07-22-2011, 10:36 AM.

Scraping the gunk off did not do much good, but a new cap and rotor completely fixed the problem. Back to 100% power. I should have started there, but for some spaz reason I had in my head that my motor was new enough to have abandoned the rotor. Ah, well, new plugs and fuel filter didn't hurt. Now I need to find a way to cut down on the humidity in my boathouse so the new parts dont corrode and my carpet doesn't mildew.

good call with the dist cap, you were lucky. i had same prob and changed nearly everything out incl cap and rotor.
mine was cam retard as air tool suggested, i read cam retard update notice and then checked my retard with diagnostics
and it was 17 degrees out.........simple fix took 15 mins, to loosen distr and turn to correct reading

when it comes time to park it again next year, run it as empty as you can and take it to a shop for a winterizing.
