Get a voltmeter and see if you have juice going to the coil. Just trace it back until you find power.

so i tested the tfi module today and its fine and its not the coil, anyone know if the gt 40 can use a ford distributor or does it need to be marine, a friend thought the rotor turned the opposite direction in my boat distributor so if anyone can shine some light

I'm pretty sure you can use the Ford car distributor. That said, I would try some more troubleshooting before buying one, especially if you don't have power between the coil and the distributor. Where is the last link in the ignition chain that you have power?

chexi, do you know if there is a main fuse panel on my SS or does all the electronics tie into the breaker panel i have with the 3 red buttons next to the ecu at the rear of the motor?

                  Do this:
                  http://www.planetnautique.com/vb3/sh...light=Ignition

                  And this:
                  http://www.planetnautique.com/vb3/sh...=Fuel+Pressure

There are two cube relays on the back of the engine. Check for power at pin 30 of both relays.
This explains it a little further.

distributor def needs to be marine. Regular auto (ford) distributors are not sealed and can cause a huge fire hazard. (spark + fuel fumes = bad day)

Do yourself and anyone that rides in your boat a favor and put the correct parts in...yes, they will cost more, but a lot less than your kids life...

sorry, after re-reading that last post, it sounds like it came off a little harsh...not intended. It was not even directed at the original poster...more just a general statement.

thats ok no offense taken, but i talked to two nautique service managers and both told me there is not any difference in a ford car distributor and a marine as they said the car distributors have to seal to keep moisture out as well as marine distributors

Do yourself a favor and check the bypassed safety switch. Unless you are 100% sure that the bypass was made using a solid connection, and not just wires twisted together, this could very well be the root cause.

Just checked the 30 pin on each relay with a low voltage meter and it lights up with the key turned on but nothing from the coil still.

there are not any wires plugged into the backside of the safety tether, my guess is the previous owner/mechanic removed all of it.

well, no offence to the service managers...but they sound like idiots. I would not be installing any automotive ignition parts in my boat, nor would I let them. Also, in case anyone is wondering, you should not have an automotive carb or starter. Cars have lots of ventilation in the engine compartment, so fumes do not collect...your boat does not have any ventilation until you either are moving or have turned on the blower...either way, I am not taking that risk. Anyway, if you do not have power at the coil, why are you messing with the distributor...it just "distributes" the power from the coil to the proper plugs. You need to look up stream from the coil.

If you still do not believe me...post your question up on correctcraftfan.com or just search their forums...there are literally guys that desinged these systems. They are way better at diagnosing these kinds of issues.
