    2006 SANTE 220 Help needed - Oil/Tranny/VDRIVE & Ballast & Impeller

    Hello all,

I am a new 2006 SANTE 220 owner. I have several questions that I was hoping you could help on. I have done a good amount of searching and have found varied information. If I am asking something obvious I am sorry in advance.

1.) Ballast - I believe there are three pumps, which would mean three different impellers for those? I would like to change them out on my own. Anyone have experience on doing that on the 220?

2.) Ballast - When full the tanks drain out the side, right? All three of them? Also, when emptying, the water comes out the bottom so you don't see it draining/emptying? The guy I bought if from said the belly ballast empties out the side and the other two out the bottom, is that right?

3.) Oil/Tranny/VDrive - From what i have seen, changing all of these is pretty easy with the drill pump. Are their three different fittings that I need?

4.) Impeller change for water intake. Does anyone have any 220 specific advice for changing out the impeller?

    Thank you very much!!!!

Thank you for the impeller information. That link was one of the ones I found, just wasn't sure if that was the same setup for the 2006 PCM in a V-Drive setup. Thank you!!

        I have the same boat.

Impeller thread is spot on just harder to get to on the V Drive. Remember to note which way the fins are bent for the re-install.

My ballast fill from the bottom and when full all spill out the side. They drain from the bottom.

Pumps are on the brace in the engine near the ski pole. Haven't had to change impellers yet.
        Do the right thing.......

sjames, thank you for confirming. I sent you a PM with a few other specific questions.

Can anyone help me on the fluids? Through a little more searching I realized I don't need "fittings" for the different fluid changes, rather, I just stick the copper/tubing in to the reservoir and suck it out. Also in reading is seems that the VDrive is "maintenance free"... meaning you just check and top off. Whereas tranny and oil you actually remove and refill the fluid?

          Thanks!

            Hey guys,

Any insight here? Are there indeed three different fluids to maintain? Oil, Tranny, AND VDrive? Is either the tranny or vdrive "no maintenance" - as in you just top it off and don't change it?

            Thanks!

Only thing I would change... Maybe... Is not to use dish soap. I've been told (and the wear seems to support it) the soap will actually start to break down the rubber. Supposedly castor oil is a better choice. I'm not sure in the end if it's that big of a deal since most of us change them every year anyway... But I have noticed that mine have more cracking when soap was used than castor oil. FWIW.

You are correct, there are three fluids in yours. In my opinion no fluid is "lifetime" or "no maintenance" regardless of what they say. Viscosity breaks down, contaminants get in, etc.

Ok, this helps to confirm. So, do you change all three at the same time usually? Different periods? Thanks!
