Ok, so I took her in to the shop and you guys were right the damper plate was worn out; however, that didn't stop the rattle. The guys at the boat shop said they thought it was a worn out bearing in the transmission. They only opened up the bellhousing to look at the damper plate because that traditionally is the problem. They said the new plate will probably keep thing running good enough through the summer until I bring it in for the winterization, thats when they suggested opening up the transmission to get at the bearings. They said if the rattle gets worse or problems occur bring it back immediately and stop using it. They said changing out the bearings will run from $1500 to $1800. I was just wondering if anyone has had this happen or does the price sound right? Thanks for all your help with the last post.
