    Steering Cable

I have a 1999 SAN and am planning on replacing the steering cable. Any suggestions on where to order one from?

    I found this one for 180 - http://www.n3boatworks.com/dlrindexs...ex+1998+-+.htm

Also if that is for some reason not the right part please feel free to let me know.

    Last question:

    What tools/other parts are required?

NautiqueParts.com (at the top of this page) - White Lake Marine. Enter PND for a 10% discount. I just bought one a couple of months ago. I think it was 172 with the discount plus the shipping.

Cool thanks, and this is something that can be done by myself? Take a day to figure out?

I just paid somebody to do mine and after watching him do it I could have probably done it myself with a decent tool set. It is just a pain going under the floor board by the gas tank and then up the ski locker. Give it a shot, you can always call somebody to clean up if needed.

Tie some string/rope to the end of the old cable before you pull it out. Once old cable out the string is left in place. Tie new cable to string and pull string. New cable in place.

I have a 2000 san, do you have to pull the fuel tank out to do it?

I have a 99 SAN. I replaced the steering cable. It's actually pretty easy. No, the tank does not have to come out. But, be prepared to push and pulling it to get it under all the brackets, cables, etc. to get in the right place. I bought mine from Southeast CC (at the time) for 150. They are no more, but Woody talked about that being a wierd length, so you cannot just buy any ole Teleflex cable to fit right.
