So I've got some kind of slow oil leak, and its very difficult to find the source. My first dart is going to be the oil pan drain fitting. The area around it keeps getting slimy with oil, but it just doesn't seem like its enough to be responsible for all this oil. Its also not enough of a leak that I"ve had to top off any oil levels, but it sure makes a mess. I"ve put a wrench on it, and torqued it as hard as I felt it could take. So before I dump all the oil, how can I seal this? Is there some sort of seal or gasket in there? Teflon tape? Nothing?
As for that locker mess, I'm on my 3rd attempt to seal the plug with silicone. Its getting pretty tedious mopping up that locker.

    is boat used in salt

on my 206 i had to eventually remove the engine to replace oil pan. it cannot be replced without removing engine.
The fitting is the weak link and was totally corroded due to the pan being very thin gauge metal, however my boat used in salt.

once engine was out i coated ALL THE BOTTOM OF ENGINE incl pan with clear protective laquer to prevent further corrosion.

Not much - Just get an over sized plug at the car parts store, & change it next oil change.
