jabsco ballast pump running in reverse

    2007 - 211 team - great boat

had a problem with ballst pump not working.
no - problem, read about it, pulled out the pumps, checked impellers, 1 was spin out on the center, a second one marginal, third OK
bought all new green replacement impellers.
put it all back together, starboard pump works great.
however both belly and port pumps seem to work in reverse to what should be on the dash.
these 2 fill when switch in indicating emptying (flashing)
and empty when solid on ....

check voltages at connectors ... all 3 are the same
took impeller out on 1 and reversed (didn't think it would make a difference ... and it didn't)

    strange ....
it all works, but it would be nice to get back to filling when light is solid, and emptying when light is flashing

checked the forums .... 1 similar problem with 0 responses.

    help ??

Just reverse the connection of your wires or reverse the pump head. You probably put the pump head on in reverse when you changed the impellers.

Ok, then I cannot explain why things are working backwards... however, you can still fix them by either reversing the wiring or reversing the pump heads.

took the wiring connectors apart and reversed the wiring on the 2 pumps.
all works as it should now.

strange that the pumps are wired differently. I took a look at the position of the orange / black wires at each pump.

If you have to replace a pump, it may not be a simple plug and play, the wires may need to be reversed.

oh well ... all is back to normal ....
