'88 350 GM shortblock heated in june. took to WLM and replaced thermostat, impeller, blew out hoses cleaned out trans. cooler. the boat ran great for two long weekends. found water in oil and drained. is it almost always the head gasket and heads or is there possibly another less severe problem?

I almost would consider the head gasket less severe, because if the head gasket is good, it might mean a cracked block.

Boats run at 140-160 degrees cars run at 210-230 degrees . You would have to get the boat so hot it would cause damage to the exhaust hoses before it would blow a head gasket. Does it have an aluminum Intake manifold?
