Melted the port fiberglass exhaust pipe.

Hi Everyone.., new member and need a bit of quick help if you can

I had an issue on the lake a few weekend back with a 97 Ski, 85 hrs, 5.8 HO. I over heated and upon further inspection the port fiberglass exhaust down pipe melted. I took the boat to the dealer for service and they replaced the pipe and said the boat was good to go..., but couldn't tell me what caused the over heat. I asked if the tech checked the impeller, "no".., or the thermostat.., "no".., so I asked them to please replace the impeller.., and they called in a few days and again said the boat was ready for pickup.

To make a long story short, I took the boat to the lake for a test and the port water header and fiberglass down pipe is still getting hot.. way too hot to touch. The starboard header however is staying cool and can put my hand on it no problem with the engine running. So at home I hooked a garden hose up to the hose that feed the water jacket/header to see if I'm getting flow. THe water that came out was all grey and found small black pieces of plastic. So my guess is the impeller definitely failed (was the original from 97) and the tech was too stupid to go after the plastic bits. They didn't even tell me the impeller failed... as part of the service review !

So now.., faced with leaving for a family vacation in three days, I'm stuck with trying to fix the blockage in my garage. I'd like to take the riser off and look to see if there's any plastic stuck in the cooling slots. But because I've never done this before I wanted to post here first and see what you guys think.

Here's a pic of what came out of the engine thus far..

So where do I look for more plastic ? Obviously something is still stuck in the water headers.
