Carburetor Problems, I think

I have a 92 SN closed bow with a Ford 351 and a Holly 4bbl carb. Sometimes the boat will start right up and run fine. Other times, usually after cruising around at a slow speed the engine will die at idle. It will start right back up but when you go to give it a little gas it dies. You can usually get the boat moving by pumping the throttle a little when it is running to get it up to a higher speed. Once it is running it will speed right up and run fine at a higher speed. Makes it really hard to tow someone skiing. If you run the boat hard this problem usually stops and the boat will idle again fine. Any clues?

If it has points start there if dwell is good rebuild the carb.
