      probably correct, the filter was very dirty...
      It's still running strong.

      I was able to get a fuel pressure guage and the readings were in tolerance (but on the low side)

        To answer your original question, i.e. is the condition of your dist cap normal, I think the answer is "yes" if your engine compartment is constantly wet. My boat is stored in a shed with poor ventilation and I notice that the carpet stays wet for days. I discovered the hard way that high humidity will eat up the contacts on the cap and rotor in short order. I got some good advice from this forum to leave the engine hatch open while the boat is stored and I have now added better ventilation. In really humid days I am now running a dehumidifier for 24 hours. Also is making a difference in mold on carpet and the underside of the ski locker.
