Fresh Air Exhaust

We've been doing some wakesurfing this summer and I have been looking into a Fresh Air Exhaust system to reduce CO fumes. I have an 08 SV211TE and was reading up on the install on the FAE website. It says that I have to remove the bolts from the centre platform support and replace with larger bolts for the FAE. I then looked at my boat and those bolts are way behind the engine at the bottom of the hull. How do you guys get in there to remove them? I'm 6'2" and 220 lbs and even removing the ballast tank, I don't see how anyone can get their arms down there to take off those bolts. Do you have to remove the entire exhaust system to get at them? That big black exhaust cannister (sorry don't know the official name) blocks access to everything so do i have to remove that as well?

Has anyone out there done this install on a similar boat to mine? Am i missing something as this install looks like a nightmare but people's posts on here seem to imply that the install is relatively simple.

Any input you could provide me would be appreciated. Thanks

i would call and talk with larry, owner of FAE, he is very helpfull and could prolly answer your questions. other than that i have nothing. mine is an 04 210 and it was fairly easy. everything to be done was on outside of boat.

Best investment I've made in a while....Install on my 220 was very easy. I'm betting they wouldn't design the install to be so complex. I you surfers out there do not have the FAE system on your boat, I definitely recommend it. No, I am not a paid spokesperson!!!! Lol

install on my 08 SAN 210 was also done all outside the boat, like 2hours total. This is the best mod that I have done to my boat! AMAZING difference in sound and smell both behind the boat and in the boat!!!

I installed a FAE on my '05 211 - I wouldn't surf without one (I did a test one day surfing both with and without it installed and I couldn't believe the difference in the amount of exhaust fumes for both the surfer and the driver).

To answer your question - yes you have to get access to the nuts on the inside of the transom. I took out my hard tank on the starboard side to allow me easier access. I suppose you could remove the exhaust, but that would be even more difficult. Be certain to use 3m 4200 or 5200 sealant when you reinstall the bolts so water doesn't seep into your transom.

I have one on my 1998 Ski Nautique personally installed by Larry. Mine was kind of a test and he wanted to get pictures of the install. Everything done on the outside. Those instructions may be old and you may want to let Larry know that. The original instructions called for removing bolts and on my SN, that would involve removing the gas tank.
Larry modified the support bracket to eliminate the need to get inside the boat.
I've had mine for over 2 years now and going strong. I really like it and I'm not a surfer. I just like quiet.

Yeah they offer the flapper as a 40$ option, I was just wondering if it was really necessary. My boat is an '05 so I don't need to worry about my warranty being voided, it's long gone. I guess most people don't purchase the flapper.

To install an FAE most Nautiques do not require you to remove the bolts that go through the transom. On the few that do, you can mount to the swim platform instead if the bolts cannot be accessed from the inside.
