    Fuel filter

I have a 2000 SAN w/ GT-40. The PCM system as a fuel filter in the canister under the high pressure fuel pump and I don't see one of those spin on filters like I've seen on other boats. Should I instal one or is there a reason why there isn't a filter before the low pressure fuel pump. I was considering installing one of these on the hose between the tank and the first fuel pump. Are there any cons in doing so? I'm really parinoid about getting water and other junk in my engine and just thought that this would be cheep insurance. Thank you for your responses.

Good idea. The low pressure pump has a relatively high failure rate especially on years without a filter in front of it. Newer boats usually have a filter before the low pressure pump as well as the FCC filter.
