    GT40 Won't Crank

My 2000 SAN with a GT40 died on the lake today and then would not crank over. The starter turns the engine over, but it does not fire up. From briefly listening to the motor, I believe this is a fuel related issue. Does anyone know the location of all the fuses/relays related to the fuel system (pumps)? I want to be able to check all the easy solutions quickly before moving up to checking fuel pressure etc.

    Thanks in advance.

Lift the engine cover. Turn the key on.
Do you hear fuel pumps run for about two seconds?
If no, check the safety lanyard.
If yes, and still no start, now it is time to check the fuel pressure.

Fuses are on the back side of the motor. Had problems with my 97 in the past. Yep, check the laynard if you don't hear the pumps.........if not, go to the fuses!!!!

Had the same problem with my 2000 SN with a GT40.

        it was the safety lanyard.

i would start there, it is the easiest place to trouble shot first, and most likely place for the fault.

Hopefully a disconnected lanyard. If not, then hopefully the fuse. I think Casey had his lanyard switch replaced relatively recently.

Also, the fuel relay hangs off the bottom of the ecu. There are two identical relays. One for fuel, one for ecu. I think the fuel one has the yellow wire. Lots of info on this site about them. Search under danielc name.

I will check the safety lanyard, but it was replaced 2 or 3 yrs ago. I might get my little brother from Big Brothers Big Sisters to come help diagnoise boat issues tonight.

Sounds like the low pressure fuel pump. Very common on the gt-40. What were operating conditions before failure?
