    Engine Overheated and Seized Up

    Nautique Guru's,
I need some serious help. I took out my 2007 SAN out this weekend and the belt broke. Well since that belt also controls the water pump it over heated. I shut it down and got a pull back to my lift. I installed a new belt the next day and took it out the following Friday and everything seemed fine. I ran it for about 3 hours boarding. I was going back out on Sat and went to crank the boat and then engine didn't want to crank. It was hard starting (never been that way before) and when I finally got it started it seemed to run a little rougher than normal. Went out and put the throttle down and she seemed like it had all the power previous. However, when putting the boat back in neutral you could smell gas and the pickup was extremely slow. It would start off slow and then slowly pick it self up to normal speed. You could rev then engine while in neutral and then put it in gear and it wouldn't do this. So I knew I had some sort of issue which I thought was maybe a bad spark plug or something. I had the mechanic come out the following weekend to take a look and he pulled the plugs out of the Starboard side and water came out of the number 3 cylinder. I had him pull all the plugs in which there was water in 2 of the 4 cylinders on the starboard side. I tried turning the engine over without the plugs in to clear out the water but the engine wouldn't turn over. The starter would just whine. I then tried turning over the engine by hand and can't get it to turn. I'm at a loss here on what to try next. I pulled off the valve cover on the starboard side and could see water in the oil.

Any advice on what to do to unseize this engine? It's a PCM 330 and only has 160hrs on it. Any help or advice on the issue would be GREATFULLY APPRECIATED.

Try removing the belt and cranking it sometimes the Alternator bearings will lock up it could be why the 1st belt broke.
    How hot did it get?

404 method to unseize engine not found....

Im not familiar with these engines but if you cant rotate the engine by the crank bolt (or w/e it has to manual rotate the engine), then you will need to do a lot more work than just pulling the valve covers. If the oil is surely filled with water, your motor lost lubrication and most likely did some pretty good damage to your bearings, wrist pins, etc. Does your oil look like a chocolate frosty?

What did your mechanic say? Did he check the oil out for you?
If you have discovered water in the cylinders, then you have probably blown the head gasket on the starboard side. Is there any water in the cylinders on the port side? If not, maybe you got lucky and only blew the head gasket on the starboard side.

You can pressure test the cooling system on the block, but you'll have to get a little creative to do it. Block the hoses or at the thermostat housing where the cooling hoses go to the exhaust manifolds. Since your engine is low hours, it's doubtful that the exhaust manifolds have failed.

Good luck and post back what you find.

Does sound like head gasket. If your boat is a 2007 is it not still under warranty?

If you filled your cylinders with water, youre looking at a cracked block, intake, heads, exhaust manifolds or toasted head gaskets. I would not necessarily think it was the head gaskets. The first thing to do in troubleshooting the cause would be to do a compression test... but with a locked up engine, youve got bigger problems on your hands.

You need to start breaking the motor down and see how bad it is. Drain the water and oil out, then get down to the block (heads off). The chances of not needing to rebuild (at a minimum, honing the cylinders, at most, boring the cylinders, new pistons, etc) arent great, but they'll improve somewhat if you can get the engine torn down and broken free sooner rather than later.
