206 Correct Craft yr 2002.. engine problem. need help!

Good morning, I am new to this site and first time ever posting to any site. I have a 2002 correct craft 206.. I bought it aprox 6 years ago. It has been perfect til mid summer last year. I have an issue(on going last summer and this summer.. not every time i use the boat) with sometimes hard starting and occasional just stops while driving( usually starts right back up and sometimes shuts off while going and restarts itself if I don't touch the throttle). Boat is left at the river.. looking for some guidance to repair myself with out towing back home(250 miles away).
Engine is the 2002 PCM 5.7L . Last summer I tried new fuel filter, new plugs, plug wires and distributor cap/rotor.. with no change in the problem.. When it runs it runs perfect at every speed. It can run perfect all day... than sometimes.. cutoff three times in one ski ride.
THanks for your guidance. Also where would I find recalls on this boat/engine.. if any?

Sounds like the typical safety lanyard problem. Make sure it is securely connected, and if necessary, bypass it or replace it. It is a pretty easy fix.

Thanks, I always check the switch when it happens and yet I will bypass or replace it to eliminate the possiblitly.. hope your right... that would be easy fix.

Im no help with your issue, but it may be worth pointing out that the first year for the 206 was 2003... so that may help in your search.

Is it Chevy or Ford?

Also, for either case, your toggle switch may be bad. It will generate the problems you describe. I'm surprised yours lasted so long. Mine lasted only three years. I have many posts on this subject.

No. Two separate parts that can cause similar issues.

so im clear your talking about the engine kill switch with the tether cord , correct(near my throttle control)? And to by pass this switch is it just two wires that need to be wired together, right? In 2003 PCM sent out a service advisory that said to check the relay harness connectors for overly bent connectors, just remove the relays and check the female pins for bent or malformed connectors, you can tighten the connectors with a small pin tool.

It is a switch that looks like this one. Right of the driver seat.
