This afternoon I was out on my 210 enjoying a lot of glass. We were on our 3rd set of the afternoon when just when the boat had got up on plane, it dropped out of gear into neutral. Our first thought was that it had somehow spun the prop off. But upon checking, everything seemed fine. Prop was still there, no breakers tripped, no cables broke, all linkages still moving correctly, all fluids good, etc. The boat just would not go into gear. Even when we disconnected the cable on the top of the transmission and manual actuated it, the boat still would not go into gear. Had to swim it in a very long way. Has anybody seen this type of thing happen before and can tell me something simple to check, else I think my transmission may be shot and my season may be over. Any ideas?

You said the prop was still there. Is there somehow the prop cam loose and you lost the key on the prop shaft causing the shaft to still spin but not the prop? Keep us posted on what you find.Current: 08 Super Air 210 Team

Nope, everything looks good. All the info that I've got says that the transmission is toast. It's at the dealer now...

Check on here, I believe there was a problem with the '08 damper plates. Any warranty left? PCM is aware of the problem, but did not issue a recall.2008 230 TE-ZR6

Even if you're out of warranty, press to get it fixed w/o charge. It's a known problem--PCM authorized replacement of mine without a water test or other diagnosis...just based on my description of the problem (....which was a rattle at the time). I was in warranty.Previous boats:

re-welded? NO, you throw it away and put a new one in. I can only imagine where these parts are being sourced these days.
