My perfect pass was goin crazy with the little black blocks and Japanese letters?? I just turned the power off to it and restarted it, but now it just has 8 black blocks... It's still working but I can't see what it's doing?? Anyone ever seen this!?

Weird characters generally means the LCD is not getting 'clean' data. This could be caused by anything from electrical interference from your boat to a mediocre connection at the CPU.
If you haven't changed anything lately (i.e. new spark plug wires, new coil, rerouting PP or other wires), I would look very closely at the pins at the connector and make sure they're all the way in the housing of the connector. Also, try re-seating the connector several times. This may help remove corrosion that may have formed on the pins.
