'05 SN 196, Speedo Not Working

Hi,

New to SNs so sorry for the newbie question but my speedo on my '05 196 isn't working.

It has no pitot probes sticking out of the rear of the hull, but does have PerfectPass fitted. Could anyone describe how the system works please and also any known issues as to system failures which maybe causing my clock not to read.

Is PerfectPass working? Check the paddlewheel under the boat. Those are known to need replacement every so often.

Yeh, PerfectPass seems to be working but I haven't had it timed through the course yet as I'm still waiting for the PO to send the smart timers through the mail.

How can I check that the paddlewheel is working fully?

Check the speed with a GPS and calibrate.

Sorry. As of last Friday....I know longer work for a British (Scottish) company....so my Texan is taking back over.

Is the speed on the PP working? I have 06 206 which is same as yours but TBW. My two speedometers don't always match. The boat gauge is usally behind and a bit sticky. The LCD readout matches the needle but neither match the PP. Are both the boat gauge and PP down? If so, that would point to the paddlewheel or something common to both.

Hi, I only have one RPM gauge, one Speedo and the third large ring is the PP module. I'm not sure whether the PP is accurate yet as I'm waiting for the previous owner to send me the Smart Timer Mag Pick up. I only have the single PP LCD display (multiple-line PP is on my shopping list for next year ), but the PP seems to be cutting in and governing the speed ok.

It sounds like your paddlewheel is working and your boat's and your factory speedo is out.

You should be able calibrate the speed of the PP (even with single line) with a good gps. Others can chime in or you can check the manual.

my speedo goes out when the paddle wheel sticks due to barnacles, i have to get under the boat and scrape clear then speedo works

my PP is calibrated to the RPM so dont really need the speedo anyway, my boat 206 also
