FCT and Windshield Refinish: Sandblast + Powder Coat or Raw Aluminum?

I have a 2001 Super Sport and am considering having my FCT and windshield sandblasted in the offseason and considering a couple of options for finish.

In the raw:leaving it as polished aluminum. Wondering if anyone has done this and what are the results - satisfied or no? Is the windshield frame all aluminum and how does it look naked. Would the aluminum hold a polish or would it tarnish over time and/or is there something that would prevent the tarninsh but maintain a polished aluminum look.

Powercoat: have seen the prior thread on this topic so think I am covered on the windshield frame but what about the tower?

The aluminum will not hold a polish. The newer boats with raw aluminum towers are anodized aluminum. The only way to make the tower stay shiny would be to clear coat it after, but I promise it won't hold up in a marine environment. As for the windshield, the newer models are still powder coated, they are just really close in color to the anodized aluminum. Your best bet is to try to strip it chemically, then powder coat. Aircraft stripper from an auto parts store should work, sandblasting is a little overkill.

Blasting will leave the aluminum with a rough finish. I wouldn't blast it.
